    • Abstract:
The article presents information on a embryonic stem cell research in the U.S. Scientists claimed to have isolated a new type of cells from amniotic fluid that have the characteristics of embryonic stem cells. They claimed that the research involved no ethical issues. The research is likely to initiate a Congressional debate in the U.S. on a legislation to expand embryonic stem cell lines to federally funded researchers. The scientists said that the amniotic fluid stem cells, which were obtained from amniocentesis samples, are not the substitutes for stem cells. Scientists say that the amniotic stem cells may prove to be very valuable in medical science.
