    • Abstract:
The article presents a case history of episodic hypersomnia called Kleine-Levin syndrome. The observations discussed were reported by French physician Edmé Chauvot de Beauchêne in 1786. Beauchene focused his study on a 26-year old girl who experienced extensive events of erysipelas that was also associated with eating disorders and neurological disturbances. He attributes the woman's condition to contaminated humours that are based on the precepts of Hippocratic medicine.
