Reabilitarea funcţională şi estetică în cazul lucrărilor pe implanturi şi a lucrărilor scheletate este o procedură cu mari cerinţe atât clinice cât și tehnice. Așteptările estetice şi funcţionale ale pacientului sunt foarte mari și nu de puţine ori rezultatul final e mult dependent de munca în echipă şi de materialele folosite. Datorită acestor factori, pentru realizarea acestor restauraţii este necesar mai mult timp din partea tehnicianului decât de obicei, pentru a satisface cerinţele medicului și așteptările pacientului. Un alt aspect care favorizează succesul tratamentului este tehnologia. Tehnologia evolueaza în fiecare secundă, oferindu-ne în ultimii ani o multitudine de posibilităţi, acest aspect reflectându-se şi în tehnica dentară odată cu dezvoltarea sistemelor CAD/CAM.
