      Abstract: Development of Innovative Training Model for Increasing Elementary School Teachers’ Competences on Remote Areas. The objective of the first phase of this multi-year study is to undertake defining phase conducted by training needs analysis. By survey research, data was collected from 86 teachers by distributing questionnaire, interviewing and FGD, then analyzed using TNA-T. The results showed that there were significant gaps in all pedagogical, social and professional competence indicators; in exception for the personality competence that from 5 indicators there were 3 indicators that had gaps. The indicator ‘V’ of pedagogic competence is an indicator that has the greatest gap, as well as being a model of innovative training that will be developed at the next research stage. IHT is an effective training recommended to improve the elementary school teachers’ competences on remote area. Tujuan penelitian multi-tahun tahap pertama ini adalah melaksanakan tahap pendefinisian yang dilakukan melalui analisis kebutuhan pelatihan. Melalui penelitian survey data dikumpulkan dari 86 guru melalui penyebaran angket, wawancara dan FGD, yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan TNA-T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kesenjangan pada seluruh indikator kompetensi pedagogik, sosial, dan profesional; terkecuali kompetensi kepribadian dari 5 buah indikator terdapat 3 buah indikator yang mengalami kesenjangan. Indikator ‘V’ dari kompetensi pedagogik merupakan indikator yang memiliki kesenjangan terbesar sekaligus menjadi model pelatihan inovatif yang akan dikembangkan pada tahapan penelitian berikutnya. IHT merupakan bentuk pelatihan yang direkomendasikan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru SD daerah terpencil. Kata kunci: model pelatihan inovatif, kompetensi guru SD, daerah terpencil
