      Engraved outlined hand color map. Shows political boundaries and place names. Relief shown pictorially. Includes ornamental title cartouche.
      First edition of this world atlas. Published by Lattre Graveur and Jean Thomas Herissant, 1762. Compiled by the best cartographers of the 18th century and gives an exact survey of the world around 1760.  Illustrated title page, by Mounet, 1762, and engraved by Prevost. Containing the armillary sphere and 36 maps, Lacks sheet 25. some in color on double page and tables. Including European maps, also 3 Asian maps, 3 African maps, 4 from the Americas, one from the 12 tribes of Israel and one from the Holy Land.  Maps engraved by Jean Lattre, but a majority of the maps are the work of Bonne. There are some contributions from Janvier and Rizzi-Zannoni, most of them are dated between 1761 and 1764. Showing political and administrative boundaries, rivers, place names, canals, fortifications, forests, lakes, etc. Relief shown pictorially and by hachures. Bound in full brown sheepskin, with title " Modern Atlas" on spine in gilt.
